At their December meeting the KFNA Board approved $145,250 of recently unfrozen NRP dollars and returned program income from past home loans to be contracted to the City of Lakes Community Land Trust (CLCLT) for the redevelopment of an affordable, single-family home at 210 West 46th Street. To fully rehab this property, however, they need additional funds, so the KFNA Board has authorized their Redevelopment Committee to hold a community meeting for the purpose of approving a NRP Plan Modification to move an additional $114,750 from Strategy 1.4.1.1/Housing Staff to 1.1.1.1a/Affordable Housing also to be loaned to the CLCLT. Attend this meeting to meet CLCLT representatives and approve the moving of this funding on January 22nd. Mark your calendars for a free community bowl painting event hosted during the Lyndale Community Dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 13th at 6-7:30pm in the Banquet Hall at Zion. You are invited to paint locally handmade bowls being prepared for the annual Kingfield Empty Bowls Event. Please bring family and friends for this engaging arts and social justice neighborhood activity! Your handiwork will decorate bowls that will then be glazed and used at the Kingfield Empty Bowls fundraiser coming on Thursday Feb 8, 2018.
And while you are there, enjoy a delicious homemade dinner! The Lyndale Community Dinner is a weekly meal that welcomes neighbors together for a feast of food and friendship. Dinner is prepared by a variety of groups, neighbors and organizations who rotate hosting. The meal is always healthy, creative and delicious… and free (donations are graciously accepted, and help support the weekly dinners).
Minneapolis 2040 Open House
Join your neighbors in shaping our city to become a healthy, sustainable, and thriving place for all. Minneapolis 2040 is an update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan, a document that shapes how Minneapolis will grow and change. The plan will cover topics such as housing, job creation, the design of new buildings, and how we use our streets.
Over the past year, City planners have learned a lot from Minneapolis residents about the future of our city. We’ve heard that as the city grows, everyone must benefit from that growth. You told us that it can be difficult to access jobs that are not located nearby. We’ve heard concerns about the rising cost of housing, and that not everyone has access to the type of housing that meets their needs. We’ve also heard that people value well-designed and environmentally sustainable buildings, and that there is a desire for the city to be more walkable, bikeable, and mass transit-friendly.
Please attend one of four upcoming family friendly, interactive open houses in early December. Enjoy complimentary refreshments from local vendors. For more information and to sign up for updates at minneapolis2040.com.
If you cannot attend the meeting in Kingfield, feel free to attend any one of these other Open Houses: [Read more…]
