Celebrate Earth Day

Three ways to celebrate Earth Day at MLK Park and how to get involved:

9:30 AM and 12 noon:  Trash Pick-up!  Check in at the registration table. A site coordinator will provide you with gloves (if you need them, or you may want to bring your own) and bags, and will instruct you on where to pick up and where to leave trash.  OR…you can also bring your own plastic bag and walk FROM your house TO the Park and collect whatever trash you find on the way—leaving it with the Staff at the Park so we are sure to weigh it with all the other “goodies” collected so we get an accurate total of the cleanup effort!

11 AM- 2 PM: Compost Workshop!  Minneapolis Solid Waste & Recycling staff will answer your questions about garbage, recycling, and organics and will have free stickers and kitchen pails to those who sign up to participate in the organics program!

12 noon to 4 PM: Fix-It Clinic!  Toaster won’t toast? Lamp won’t light? Pants need mending? The Fix-It Clinic helps residents return broken household appliances and clothing to usable condition. With free help from skilled volunteers, residents get assistance with disassembling, troubleshooting, and fixing their items, while learning new skills and gaining empowerment.
