Paint-a-Bowl for Kingfield Empty Bowls at The ColorWheel Gallery, 46th & Grand Ave S

Come paint-a-bowl at the ColorWheel Gallery for Kingfield’s February 4th Empty Bowls event, which benefits Nicollet Square Housing! We will be painting some of the 175 bowls created at the November Throwdown hosted by Fire on the Greenway! Read more about that event here.

This is a free activity for anyone that would like to paint a bowl; we do ask that kids under twelve years old participate with a parent. Bowls will be glazed and then used at the February 4th (4-8 PM at MLK Park) Kingfield Empty Bowls fundraiser for Nicollet Square, a 42-unit housing complex in Kingfield for youth ages 18-22 that have experienced long-term homelessness.

Ceramic artists can drop off their already made bowls to donate to this event (and at the paint another while you do so) with Tammy at the ColorWheel on this day too!

Kingfield Reverse Caroling

Kingfield reverse Caroling is back!  Gather with your neighbors to raise your communal voices to the stars!
Thursday December 17th, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM

Reverse Caroling, you ask, what is THAT?   Started in Kingfield by KFNA in 2014, this year we have five locations bursting at the seams with holiday cheer! These sites have gathered groups of non-wandering minstrels who will play and sing holiday tunes for you enjoyment and even, at some sites, with your participation! Why wait for carolers to come to you—when you can bundle up, take a stroll and go find them!

We have heard rumors of high-steppin’ fiddles and accordions, the swanky sounds of soft jazz, artful vocal arrangements of full-out choruses, and even the grassroots guru of the local Community Sing sing-a-long movement himself!

To join the fun all you need to do is bundle up, pack a warm beverage in a mug, snuggle the kids into their strollers or leash up the hound and take a walk! Visit any (or all!) of the following sites between 5:30-7 PM; some sites will provide song sheets and our two local coffeeshops partaking in the phone will have warm beverages and treats to re-fuel on as well!  Here are the details for each Reverse Caroling location:

Reverse Caroling Host Sites:

  •  4203 Blaisdell: Remember this house from PorchFest?! Come join in the raucous fun of an all-age jug/guitar/fiddle/cello/kazoo/percussion/accordion band accompanied by lots of loud voices!       Song sheets provided around the fire along with warm cider and treats! Hosts: Jerri and Mark & Matt and Abby
  • 3745 Blaisdell: Another great PorchFest locale and home of Raquel, band leader of Calamity and the Owl! The porch lights will be on the Tiny Christmas Elves will regale you with 4-6 part harmonies. Consisting of 8-16 members, this group boasts cross membership with One Voice and VocalEssence. Want a pre-taste of their sound? Visit them at the St. Paul European Christmas Market on Saturday 12/ 12 between 10-1!
  • 3622 Pleasant: Wait…ANOTHER PorchFest site?! Sense a theme yet? These neighbors love great music and meeting new neighbors! Ted & Jacquelyn will have the Yule log blazing in the firepit and 10 lords a leaping, nine ladies dancing, eight pipers piping…well not really, but you get the point, right?
  • 3700 Nicollet: Indoors at Butter Bakery Café communal caroling Minnesota Community Sing style with Bret Hesla and hosted by Dan Swenson-Klatt! Stop in and grab a bite to eat and refill your mug. Yes you heard right—free holiday munchies for all carolers! Just be careful not to sing with your mouth full!
  •  3745 Nicollet Ave: Indoors at Five Watt Coffee, enjoy the Tinsel-dripping Tunes of TrapTube, a swanky jazz trio of fresh-faced youngsters playing holiday classics like you’ve never heard before. Hosted by owners Caleb and Lee and featuring Alma Engebretson on the standup bass, Gerhardt Robinson on two saxes and a bassoon, and Jordan Anderson on the Hammond b3! Tunes will roll until 7, but the coffee will be flowing until 10.

Contact Sarah Linnes-Robinson, KFNA Director, at  or 612.823.5980 if you have questions.

Neighbors: If you want to join in the fun we ask that you light a luminary in your yard on Thursday evening to light the way for your neighbors on their evening walk around Kingfield!
