Planning Meeting Kingfield Empty Bowls

emptybowls3Kingfield Empty Bowls Team 2016: Be a part of stopping hunger and homelessness, one bowl at a time!

On Thursday, February 4th, 2016, KFNA will host the fifth annual Kingfield Empty Bowls, and we would love to have you be a part of the intimate team that plans this community-wide event!  Every year this event gets bigger and better, and we need more folks to help with figuring out the details and gathering the supplies, food, and the crowd. The planning team will most likely meet monthly until the event in February, and then there will be even more opportunities to volunteer and assist with day-of activities!

In case you are unfamiliar with Empty Bowls, it is a single-day event that combines art, food, local businesses, nonprofits, and lots and lots of neighbors raising awareness and funds to combat hunger in our neighborhood. The 2016 Empty Bowls will again benefit Nicollet Square, an organization located in Kingfield neighborhood that provides affordable housing and a supportive environment for young adults who have experienced homelessness or have been in the foster care system. Last year we were able to donate over $7,000 to Nicollet Square through this single evening event!

46th Street Study, an Informational Meeting

Next summer, Hennepin County is planning to repave 46th Street South from Lyndale to Cedar Avenues. Travel safety and other concerns have been raised about this stretch of road, and the paving project provides an opportunity to make improvements along the roadway for vehicular traffic, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

A working group has been established to study the transportation issues in this area, and to examine modifications that could be implemented with the paving project. The group consists of county and city staffs with representatives from the Field-Regina-Northrup, Kingfield, and Tangletown neighborhoods.
