1) Important! Lyndale Avenue Street Closures Begin Today
2) Support the Walldogs on Nicollet by attending the Hennepin Lake Liquors 26th Annual Wine Tasting, Wednesday June 11
1) Lyndale Avenue Reconstruction Road Closures Now In Effect
Road closures and detours for the Lyndale Avenue reconstruction project went into effect today, Thursday, June 5th.
Lyndale Avenue will be closed between 46th and 50th for the gas company to replace their lines. Signs will read that 44th Street to 50th Street will be closed, but 44th Street to 46th Street will not be closed until June 16th.
This early closure is required because the gas company’s lines are deeper than anticipated and, as such, require a wider trench and subsequently a loss of space available for traffic lanes. The full detour is being established at this time and will remain in effect for the remainder of the construction season, even though the roadwork has not yet begun. The official roadwork is scheduled to begin on June 16th and will use the same detour and road closure.
Please Note: Lyndale Avenue from 31st to the Minnehaha Creek will be reconstructed over the next two years. Construction between 50th and 38th is planned for this year. The remaining road reconstruction is planned to occur during 2009.
The County website will provide periodic updates to keep the public and business community informed of progress:

Kingfield Special E-Mail Notice
May 29, 2008
Last night there was a 911 call placed by a resident in the 5th precinct regarding a loud party. When on-duty officers responded, they discovered the party was attended by some off-duty officers. At some point prior to the on-duty officers arriving, two off-duty officers had left the party and allegedly fired their weapons. Internal Affairs investigators were called to the scene. Two officers have been placed on paid administrative leave. There are active criminal and Internal Affairs investigations regarding this incident. The MPD is limited by data practices from releasing most details at this time.
The Minneapolis Police Department is taking these allegations very seriously. Numerous investigators were on the scene last night attempting to discern the facts of the case. If you have questions please feel free to call me and I will attempt to answer as best I can.
