KFNA November Board Meeting
KFNA meets monthly and neighbors are welcome to join the conversation. Community Forum starts each meeting where you can bring up an issue or ask a question, or stay for the entire meeting to learn about neighborhood projects and work that the KFNA Board is doing in the community. This month KFNA is discussing the future of our community-based organization, both financially and philosophically.

Like other organizations, over the last year KFNA has experienced unprecedented challenges and disruptions to the way we operate. COVID-19, the killing of George Floyd and the funding uncertainty from the City have, and will require us to respond and adapt to a new reality. This new norm of uncertainty will require more deliberate action, more strategic planning and more support from the KFNA board and the community as a whole. If we are to continue to support and build community within our neighborhood KFNA must define our mission moving forward, be nimble in the way we operate and develop the mechanisms for funding that work.
Over the last few months the KFNA executive team has been discussing and wrestling with these “big†questions. Through these discussions it is clear that the answers are not simple and that the path forward must be developed through a collaborative process between KFNA Board Members, KFNA Staff and the Community.
15 West 37th Street Housing Development Presentation
Hosted by the KFNA Redevelopment Committee
To get the code to attend the meeting please email and put ‘15 West 37th Street Meeting Attendance’ in the subject line.
The Kingfield Neighborhood Association Redevelopment Committee had the opportunity to review the developer’s proposal for 15 West 37th Street and the committee is holding a special committee meeting via Zoom to allow interested neighbors to learn about the project and ask questions of the developer (and Kingfield residents), Jim and Faith Kumon of Heirloom Properties, LLC.
Although it would be the committee’s preference to hold this meeting in person, due to COVID safety procedures, the meeting will be held virtually.  Heirloom Properties has provided a project summary, and KFNA also welcomes you to submit project questions BEFORE the meeting so answers can be covered in the presentation. To submit questions, please email and put ‘15 West 37th Street Meeting Question’ in the subject line. Â
KFNA will respond and email you the link to join the meeting. If you have emailed questions about the project as outlined above, we will be sending you the meeting link as well. There will also be Q&A time available after the presentation.

KFNA Hosts an All-Day, Election Day, Polling Party on November 3rd—and You’re Invited!
Kingfield Neighborhood Association will host Polling Party tents all day at MLK Park on Election Day November 3rd. Go to https://bit.ly/KFNA2020PollingPartyVolunteers to sign up to volunteer!
Continuing a tradition started in 2012, look for one of two tents outside on the park grounds to stop by and say hello to your neighbors. It’s been harder to connect with our neighbors in 2020, and with Winter looming, it will become even harder. We’ll have coffee and tea on hand for you, so be COVID-safe and bring your own travel mug and stop by for a pick-me-up! Even if you voted early, you can stop by and say hello!
In the August primary, almost 70% of the votes cast were early in-person, or by mail. If that pattern continues, it should be very easy to maintain social distancing throughout the entire day inside the park building and on the park grounds.
We can’t continue our Polling Party tradition without you. Here is what we need:
- Volunteers to help set-up, staff and strike the tents from 6:15 am – 8:30 pm
- Volunteer crossing guards at 41st & Nicollet to help neighbors safely cross to and from the polls
- Firepits dropped off in the morning and picked up at night after they’ve cooled
- Lots and lots of firewood
