Nicollet Avenue Foraging Nature Walk

Meet at the Nicollet Social Action Center, 3537 Nicollet Ave

  • Rain or Shine. Be prepared to walk 10-12 blocks.
  • Limited to 10 participants.
  • Sliding Fee Scale, recommend between $10-20.
  • Face Masks and Registration Required.

Want to know more about the food, plants and animals right under our feet in our urban ecosystem? We can walk right by all kinds of biodiversity and interconnected systems and not know what we are seeing in our own front yards and neighborhood parks. Now, more than ever, we understand our interconnectedness and the need for local knowledge and resilience. We also believe we protect what we love and understand, a key foundation of climate action and engagement!

Minneapolis Climate Action, Kingfield Neighborhood Association and Ironwood Foraging invite you to join us for our Nicollet Ave Foraging Nature Walk. We will practice social distancing, REQUIRE masks and keep it to a small group. Space is limited, so sign up now!

The walk will be led by Ironwood Foraging founder, Tim Clemens. He is offering a nonprofit discount/pay what you can rate with a suggestion of $10-$20.

About Tim Clemens:
Tim is the founder of Ironwood Foraging, offering hands-on foraging workshops in the Twin Cities and began his foraging journey as a child roaming around his neighborhood and exploring Minnehaha Falls.
Tim is the President of the Minnesota Mycological Society, a Minnesota Master Naturalist, and a Certified Wild Mushroom Expert. Tim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Minnesota and a Certificate in Environmental Education from Cornell University

We at the Kingfield Neighborhood Association frequently boast about how talented and committed our community is, but when we began talking about all the great things that neighbors are doing, both during the current pandemic and beyond, we realized that you might not know each other as well as we know you. This online series of one-on-one interviews with neighbors is designed to help you get to know your neighbors better, understand what they do and what drives and fulfils them.

In this first episode meet Whitney Emanuel.  Whitney is a single mother, business owner, Jesus lover, and a Kingfield Neighbor. She has been a financial adviser for 8 years, starting at Ameriprise and launching her own business, Strategic Visionaries, in 2016. She loves to see the transformation and liberation her clients go through by learning more about their money.

The SUN! A Kingfield Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt

Take a walk today and look for the sun. Not in the sky, but on neighbor’s front doors and windows!

Every Tuesday neighbors are decorating a window or front door with a certain symbol, creating a community scavenger hunt for people out walking in the neighborhood. All you need to do to participate is paint, draw, or even cut out an image of the symbol and put it facing outward for the world to see. This is one way neighbors can still connect, even when we actually cannot due to quarantine.
