Storytime and Little Free Libraries Unveiling in King Park (& 49 other metro parks!)

A unique collaboration in 50 metro parks will be celebrated on Weds. June 21!

https://www.facebook.com/events/1826931980905775/

At Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park join volunteer story readers Greg Wenz, Tracine Asberry and Betty Tisel as TWO new Little Free Libraries are unveiled at Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park in Minneapolis.

7:00 PM: Meet north of the park building by the community garden for stories and unveiling of a Little Free Library adopted by Kingfield Neighborhood Association.

7:25 PM: Parade to the second Little Free Library by the playground, south of the rec center, adopted by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park Legacy Council, for more stories and a second unveiling.

The libraries are being donated and filled with great kids’ books for the unveiling, thanks to the Minneapolis Foundation, Minneapolis Parks Foundation, MPR, and the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board. RAIN OR SHINE: if it rains, we will read inside the rec center.

43rd & Nicollet Pedestrian Safety Meeting

Tuesday April 25, 6-7:30 PM
The Aliveness Project, 3808 Nicollet Ave South, Located in the Community Room on the 2nd Floor (elevator access is available, if needed)

Traffic, parking, and pedestrian concerns and solutions have been discussed at this intersection since last summer with the current bollard design being tested earlier than planned due to the hit and run accident resulting in a woman’s death at this intersection last fall. A median design has been proposed by the City as another form of traffic calming that could be tested in this location; local businesses are concerned by the number of on-street parking spots this design will remove from Nicollet Avenue.

Come learn more about the proposed median design and other possible modifications to the current design that could occur to make the intersection more pedestrian friendly.

If you have questions feel free to contact KFNA’s Executive Director Sarah Linnes-Robinson at or 612.823-5980.
