Community Empty Bowls Paint-a-Bowl at the 2nd Annual Uptown Clay Throwdown!

Wheels will spin & clay will fly! Come join the fun!

There will be things to nibble and sip, and a chance to chat with the artists about their work while browsing the studio as they get ready for their annual holiday sale coming December 2-4. You can also paint a bowl for Kingfield’s February 2017 Empty Bowls event!

Experienced ceramic artists, come and sit for a spin (or two!)  Uptown Clay is providing the space, wheels, and coordination for this single-day throwdown. The goal is to make 120 bowls for the February Kingfield Empty Bowls event, a fundraiser held in February to benefit Nicollet Square, a supportive place for formerly homeless youth.

 

Ceramic artists: To reserve a wheel for a throwing shift on Saturday, October 15th, send a request to Jon Loer at and a copy to Benjamin Krikava at . Questions can be directed to Benjamin at 612.327.5274.

If you are a ceramic artist and cannot join the throwdown but still want to donate bowls, we are happy to accept your donation and arrange a pickup. Kingfield Empty Bowls 2017 will be here before we know it, and we are looking for volunteers to help create another wonderful experience. Please let us know if you would like to be part of the team that helps host an event that celebrates our community and supports residents and programming at Nicollet Square, a project of Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative that provides a safe, affordable, and supportive Kingfield housing option for youth who have experienced long-term homelessness or have been in the foster care system. There has been a lot of chatter on the various neighborhood social media sites about local crimes, perceived or real crime increases, working together to combat crime, etc. Come get the info first hand at the KFNA Board meeting this Wednesday and let’s decide how to approach this together.

If you have questions or cannot attend the meeting but want to be kept informed of next steps contact to be added to Kingfield’s Crime and Safety list, or to find out who your block leader is, or to find out how to be trained as a block leader for your street!

Want to Help Get Out the Vote? Voter Registration Doorknocking 10/13/16

This doorknocking date will be led by Luz Francisco, City Specialist with Election and Voter Services, and will focus on the area of East 38th Street on Thursday October 13, 5-7 PM and will be conducted in both Spanish and English.

Does door knocking help?  Yes!  In a recent 2-hour doorknock date coordinated by KFNA and the City of Minneapolis Election and Voter Services Department we knocked 250 doors, completed 2 Voter Registrations and 7 Pledge Cards, and recruited 4 Election Judges!

How do I sign up to door knock on this date?  You can directly contact Luz, who will give you information on where the group will gather:   OR you can sign up at the Kingfield Farmers’ Market this Sunday October 9 at the KFNA Table!  there will be a clipboard to enter your contact info on and we will contact you and let you know the details and gathering place for the 13th.
