Voter Registration and Voting Questions Answered

at the KFNA Table in the Market!

Senate District 62 covers the heart of South Minneapolis. DFL values are progressive– they care about our community and we take action to effect change that benefits everyone. Volunteers will be available at the KFNA table at the market for voter questions and registration. (www.facebook.com/SD62DFL/)

PLUS at the table you can sign-up to doorknock people to directly register ALL neighbors to vote, as well as recruit Election Judges! In a recent 2-hour doorknock date coordinated by KFNA and the City of Minneapolis Election and Voter Services Department we knocked 250 doors, completed 2 Voter Registrations and 7 Pledge Cards, and recruited 4 Election Judges! The next doorknocking date will be led by Luz Francisco, City Specialist with Election and Voter Services, and will focus on the area of East 38th Street on Thursday October 13, 5-7 PM and will be conducted in both Spanish and English.

Can’t attend the market but want to do your part to increase voter turnout by doorknocking? Have other questions? Contact

Kingfield Community: Our Outdoor Oven Opening Celebration!

Kingfield’s Pleasant Community Garden is located adjacent to  the Center for Performing Arts, 3754 Pleasant Ave. S.

Community traffic meeting regarding parking and transportation issues from 42nd to 46th Streets & East of Nicollet Avenue

On July 28, residents gathered to discuss vehicle and pedestrian safety concerns with a focus on First Avenue between 42nd and 46th Street. Neighbors identified many areas of concern including safe pedestrian crossings at 42nd Street, heavy traffic near the business intersection of 43rd and Nicollet, delivery trucks on residential streets, and concerns with speeding and erratic traffic. City staff agreed to review concerns and gather data from measurements of traffic speed and frequency.

Please join us on September 28 for a meeting with public works staff and Council Member Glidden to review collected data and discuss next steps.

Wheels will spin & clay will fly: Get ready for the 2nd Annual Kingfield Empty Bowls Throwdown!

In partnership with Uptown Clay.

Experienced ceramic artists, come join the fun! Uptown Clay (formerly Fire on the Greenway) is providing the space, wheels, and clay for this single-day throwdown. The goal is to make 200 bowls for the February Kingfield Empty Bowls event, a fundraiser held in February to benefit Nicollet Square, a supportive place for formerly homeless youth.  Trimmers needed for Sunday, as well!

Don’t know how to throw? Come anyway, and watch the wheels spin and the clay fly! There will be things to nibble and sip, and a chance to chat with the artists about their work while browsing the studio as they get ready for their annual holiday sale coming December 2-4. You can also paint a bowl for Kingfield’s February 2017 Empty Bowls event!

Ceramic artists: To reserve a wheel for a throwing shift on Saturday, October 15th, send a request to Jon Loer at and copy Benjamin Krikava at . To commit to coming and trimming on Sunday please contact just Jon at .  Questions can be directed to Benjamin at 612.327.5274.

If you are a ceramic artist and cannot join the throwdown but still want to donate bowls, we are happy to accept your donation and arrange a pickup. For donations and more answers to questions about the Kingfield Empty Bowls event or the throwdown, please contact KFNA’s Executive Director, Sarah Linnes-Robinson, at 612.823.5980 or .
