KFNA thanks Lisa & Scott, outgoing longtime board members

March 13, 2020 By Sarah

With KFNA’s Annual Meeting and Celebration canceled we will miss the opportunity to publicly thank two dedicated members of the KFNA Board of Directors, Lisa Skzeczkoski-Bzdusek and Scott Mueller.  Both of these individuals have reached their term limits for serving with KFNA, Lisa with 7 years and Scott with 8.

Lisa has served as Board Secretary for years, an often thankless job that is critical to the functioning and historical knowledge of an organization. She is a champion or planning Family Engagement events and often volunteers at them alongside her children.

Scott’s interest and expertise on the KFNA Board has been in creative engagement, both on the ground and online. He has helped conceptualize and organize the So Alive dance parties benefiting The Aliveness Project and Get Out the Vote Polling Parties and yardsign campaigns.

KFNA thanks them for their years of service and is glad they will continue to be involved in the community on a project level. Acknowledging that they have big shoes to fill, we at KFNA also ask that all neighbors take the time to vote for representatives on the 2020-2021 KFNA Board of Directors. Please review all 8 candidate profiles for the KFNA Board of Directors Election 2020 and VOTE for up to six of them online! https://kingfield.org/board/

June 2, 2009 By Sarah

The Minneapolis Arts Commission selected three public art projects to be recognized with the first annual MAC Awards.  The projects include a colorful park bench crafted by youth in North Minneapolis, a Nicollet Avenue mural project that increases awareness of the city’s heritage with historic images of the city (yes, our own Walldogs on Nicollet Project!!), and the installation of dramatic photographs in a downtown skyway to give voice to the Minneapolis immigrant community.   [Read more…]

An Evening of Magic & Hypnotism with Franko!

January 8, 2009 By Sarah

Saturday January 10, 7 PM

Solomon’s Porch, 100 West 46th Street

Some Kingfield neighborhood residents caught Franko’s show during the Walldogs on Nicollet festivities—he is the official Walldogs’ hypnotist, you know!  He’s back for one more show in Kingfield, a benefit show, in fact, for our Walldogs On Nicollet Project Coordinator, Carole Bersin, to help defray the cost of a mission trip with Solomon’s to Guatemala for Carole and her daughter.  So if you know Carole, or simply love magic!, pack some beverages and come enjoy the hospitality of Solomon’s Porch and see a really fantastic show.

Suggested donation $10 per person and $15 per family. Questions? Contact Carole directly at cbersin@visi.com.

Walldogs “dONe” Nicollet

July 28, 2008 By Sarah

MPLS Skyline & Artist Cisco Vargas

Thank you community artists, community volunteer support, and visiting Walldoggers! The murals are amazing works of art, memories of our neighborhood’s history, and symbols of how much can be accomplished when people work together. The powerful images that now line Nicollet Avenue are such a gift to both the Kingfield and Lyndale neighborhoods, that words cannot express how proud I am to be a part of this project and support this work of the community.
