Charter Education Community Forum

Today is the day! We are so excited to see you either at Mayflower Church (106 E Diamond Lake Road, Minneapolis, MN 55419) or streaming live via this link from 10am-11:30am for the Charter Education Forum! If attending in person, we are requiring proof of vaccination and masks. If you cannot meet that requirement, please watch the live stream.

Can no longer make the event or want to watch and share the forum again after the event for viewing on your own time? After the event, a recording of the forum will be posted here.

Important: We will be checking for proof of vaccination at the event so if you are planning on attending in person, please bring either 1) your vaccination card, 2) an electronic copy of your vaccination card either by downloading the “Docket” application from the Minnesota Department of Health here or by logging into your MyChart or other health portal to view and show your immunization and health records information, 3) a photo of your vaccination card, 4) log into the webpage for the clinic site or pharmacy where you received the vaccine such as at Walgreen’s online portal, the vaccine documentation is under Prescription Records (take a screenshot and store the photo in your Photo Favorites).

In person attendees are invited to stay after the presentation for a meet and greet with the organizations outdoors (weather permitting). This is your chance to ask additional questions to the organizations. The meet in greet will run until 12:30pm.

We look forward to seeing you there or online and hearing community members on both sides of each amendment present their case. Learn more about the organizations being represented and check out our overview handout here.

Thanks again and we will see you soon!

-Charter Education Team

——————————

On November 2nd, Minneapolis votes on three charter amendments that will determine the future of public safety, rent control, and the structure of our local government. Learn about all 3 City Charter Amendments from groups advocating on each side of each amendment; you may attend either in-person* or live stream the discussion.

Register to attend in-person or to get the livestream link.  PLEASE NOTE: to attend the event you must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination status!

Questions about the amendments? You can also submit questions at the link above through October 4th!

*If attending in person, masks are required and vaccination strongly recommended for those eligible. We will be limiting capacity to maintain safe distancing. If COVID19 conditions do not allow for a safe event, we will remove the in person audience and only offer virtual viewing.

At this public forum, the Charter Education Team, a partnership of Southwest Minneapolis Neighborhood Organizations, is hosting six speaker advocates in favor of and opposed to each charter amendment. Each will give a short speech, will make their case, and will help you decide which way to vote.More information on the organizations and speakers can be found here.

Confused about the City Charter & the Proposed Charter Amendments? Missed the Sept KFNA Board meeting with City Clerk Casey Carl? Watch the presentation on Kingfield’s YouTube Channel!
