‘Caste’, by Isabel Wilkerson

A virtual Book Club hosted by Butter Bakery Café

You may use this link to join our Zoom Meeting

To connect with Kingfield’s 100 Days of Community, Butter is offering a set of conversations using Isabel Wilkerson’s book Caste. Join neighbors to consider ways systems of caste are found and active in Kingfield. For April we’ll be having a conversation about Wilkerson’s 8 Pillars of Caste and how we were taught these. We’ll continue the conversation on the third Tuesday of May.

You don’t need to have read the book to benefit from the conversation! And you can join in for any or all events and still find something to activate you to work for equity.

For more information you can contact Dan at the cafe or by email.

MPD150: A People’s Project Evaluating Policing, Part 2

Part 2: Creating the Future of Community Safety. Connect with neighbors to discuss harms we face in our neighborhood and City, measures we can take to prevent these harms, and alternatives we can create to address harms when they do occur.

More info and registration: bit.ly/3mFteEa

Join your Kingfield neighbors to learn about MPD150, a community-based initiative challenging the narrative that police exist to protect and serve. This effort seeks to shift the discussion around police and policing in Minneapolis from one of procedural reforms to one of meaningful structural change.

Facilitators: MPD150 work group members, SooJin Pate and Sheila Nezhad

On Sunday, February 8, neighbors will gather for Kingfield Empty Bowls—sharing soup, choosing handmade bowls, and supporting local nonprofits fighting food injustice and increasing housing access in our community.

It’s about sharing space, being together, and taking care of one another in small but meaningful ways.

We’d love to see you there.
