PorchFest is On!

May 15, 2024 By Josh Martin

Porchfest 2024 is on! Thursday, June 13 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.

We have more than 50 musicians, both solo artists and bands, who have registered to share their music with our neighborhood.

However, we need more places for them to play. Please volunteer your porch or backyard if you can for this wonderful event.

What does it take to be a Host?

KFNA asks that you treat your Musicians as guests at your home. This includes connecting with your bands before the event. Please also make your band feel welcome by providing water or other light refreshments, offering them stools or chairs, helping them set up a table if they have merchandise to sell, and providing a bathroom, when needed. We ask that someone from the host site be on location while the music is playing.

If you are interested in being a host or have any further questions? Contact Steve Huot at (612) 240-2024 or .

Kingfield Garden Tool Swap

April 29, 2024 By Josh Martin

Attention, Kingfield Gardeners!
From Seasoned Growers to novice Seed-Sowers, all were welcome at the 5th annual Minneapolis Garden Tool Swap!
Minneapolis Solid Waste & Recycling and community partners once again offered this free event on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at seven parks citywide. The Kingfield swap takes place at MLK Park each year.
As you start Spring cleaning, hang on to those unused/unneeded garden tools, planters, garden décor, books, seeds, and more, and share them with neighbors at the swap. You do not need to bring items to participate. All items donated at the swap are free for any participant to take home. For more event details, visit the City’s Garden Tool Swap webpage: MPLS Garden Tool Swap
In 2023, over 1,600 items were dropped off and more than 70% of items were taken by the end of the three hour event. Let’s make each year bigger and better. Let us know you’re coming and invite your friends and loved ones to join. Please come to mingle with your fellow neighbors while you purge your unneeded garden tools and find just the right thing you need to finish up that new garden bed project!

Join the KFNA Board!

April 2, 2024 By Josh Martin

The Kingfield Neighborhood Association is recruiting Volunteer Board Members

The Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA) is a community-based nonprofit that covers the area of 36th to 46thStreet and 35W to the middle of Lyndale Avenue. The mission of the organization is “Serving Kingfield by creating connections, building community, and fostering engagement.”

KFNA has spent over 30 years creating community safety by connecting neighbors to each other, building a thriving small business and nonprofit network where our business owners and nonprofit leaders are valued members of our neighborhood, and problem solving with neighbors by being the bridge to the City of Minneapolis regarding projects, planning, and issues. KFNA has created a series of innovative projects that celebrate our residents and their talents including Porchfest, Empty Bowls, decades of visual art shows, the conceptualization and testing of the first utility box wraps in the City, stormwater management demonstration sites, establishment and care of the Donation Garden at MLK Park and Community Orchard, and over seventy pieces of public art including the Walldogs on Nicollet project.

KFNA is currently recruiting to fill 7 of the 13 Volunteer Board Member Seats.

Consider how you can be part of the Kingfield Neighborhood Association by learning more about the Roles and Responsibilities of the Board, and consider applying for a two year term at the link found here.
