Kingfield Brings The Blooms

Walk, bike, or drive, in the rain or sunshine, for a self-guided evening exploring Kingfield’s beautiful blooming gardens on Thursday, July 11th at 5:30pm.

The 2019 garden tour starts at Nicollet Ace Hardware, where you can get a glimpse of products to help your garden! Then follow the map to check-out seven of our neighbors’ gardens. Gardeners will be available at each location to share their secrets to success!

The tour ends at the MLK Park Donation Garden, where volunteers can talk about how this garden helps provide fresh vegetables to The Aliveness Project, as well as educational opportunities for everyone. And grab some free ice cream at the MLK Park Annual Ice Cream Social!

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the start of the tour, Nicollet Ace Hardware (3805 Nicollet Ave S) beginning at 5:30pm.

All proceeds will be used in support of the MLK Park Donation Garden.

To Fertilize or Not To Fertilize

A Kingfield Hands-on Gardening Class!

Join your neighbors and Hennepin County Master Gardeners to learn all about fertilizing your garden. What kind of fertilizers are there? Do you need to fertilize? When should you do it?

We’ll also be harvesting micro sassy lettuce, picking some of our herbs, training the peas to attach to the trellis (if necessary), and discussing succession planting (what to do when you’ve harvested your first round of vegetables).

Everyone is welcome. We meet each Tuesday at the same place and time. Feel free to drop in and bring your questions, tend the soil, and meet neighbors, whether weekly or whenever you can!

Conversations about Buildings and Homes

  • A  KFNA Redevelopment Meeting

KFNA Redevelopment is hosting a special meeting on Tuesday June 17 at Butter Bakery Cafeto talk about our neighborhood and the opportunities and challenges it faces to increase density. The question the committee is exploring is “what can neighbors do to help increase affordable housing options at long vacant properties near Nicollet Avenue or other primary corridors?”

At 7:30 the committee will be joined by representatives from Beacon Interfaith Housing which owns one of these properties. Beacon will update the committee on development ideas they have for the vacant lot behind Butter on 37th Street.

Feel free to join us. Contact KFNA at if you have any questions. RSVP to

And right now, that togetherness matters.

On Sunday, February 8, neighbors will gather for Kingfield Empty Bowls—sharing soup, choosing handmade bowls, and supporting local nonprofits fighting food injustice and increasing housing access in our community.

It’s about sharing space, being together, and taking care of one another in small but meaningful ways.
