Pleasant Community Garden Wrap-Up & Pizza Event

Approximate schedule: Clean-up 10 AM -12 PM / Pizza 12-2 PM. Drop in as you can that day!

https://www.facebook.com/events/470469063692888/

Please join KFNA for the final garden clean-up of the Pleasant Community Garden on Saturday June 1 from 10 AM-noon, and then stay and enjoy a piece of pizza with us as a “thank you” for the help and the last decade of communal gardening in this spot.

Come take down the garden boxes, remove the bunny fencing, and help us move plants to a safer space on the property. It’s been a beautiful 10 years from breaking ground and creating this space–to breaking bread at garden dinners and the outdoor oven. Besides the basic crops, we have also grown Cascade hops, oyster mushrooms, and three generations of honey bees.  Thank you to the Center for Performing Arts for donating the land to KFNA for the past 10 years; it has been an educational, and inspirational community space.

Or complete and return a brief Interest Form (found below) to ; KFNA is then inviting all interested individuals to the June KFNA meeting on 6/12/19 at 7 PM, MLK Park to introduce themselves to the board.

Don’t cry over your onions

Join your neighbors and Hennepin County Master Gardeners to learn the details about growing onions.

We’ll also be planting bush beans, zucchini, and cucumbers and learn about putting in supports for peas.

Everyone is welcome. Feel free to drop in and bring your questions, tend the soil, and meet neighbors, whether weekly or whenever you can!

—————————————-

The mission of the MLK Donation Garden, located on the northern side of the King Park Building at 4055 Nicollet, is to connect neighbors and grow food for our community. Neighbors gather every Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 PM to tend the vegetables in the boxes at the northern side of the MLK Recreation Center and discuss a weekly topic. The food we grow in 2019 will be donated to The Aliveness Project (located at 3808 Nicollet), but the knowledge you go home with is yours to keep!

Kingfield has always shown up for each other. 💛 An Kingfield has always shown up for each other. 💛
And right now, that togetherness matters.

On Sunday, February 8, neighbors will gather for Kingfield Empty Bowls—sharing soup, choosing handmade bowls, and supporting local nonprofits fighting food injustice and increasing housing access in our community.

It’s about sharing space, being together, and taking care of one another in small but meaningful ways.

We’d love to see you there.
