The most important aspects of the Community Organizer position are skilled communication, empathy, and relationship-building. The position reports directly to the Executive Directors of both organizations.

This position will offer a broad variety of activities. Projects, tasks, and outreach activities will be determined in bi-weekly staff meetings. Flexibility in work hours is a must, nights and weekends are common. Time will be tracked by organization and work area. See below for a description of specific activities this position may be asked to participate in. KFNA and LNA are equal opportunity employers. [Read more…]

Calling All Volunteers to Support Kingfield’s Winter Events!

December 20, 2022 By Sarah

The Kingfield Board of Directors is working on their 2023 engagement plan and event list and while the entire calendar is not available yet, we do know that there is a commitment for hosting our traditional Winter events: Kingfield Empty Bowls and the Community Sap Tap/Pancake Breakfast.

Kingfield Empty Bowls will be held on Sunday February 12, and celebrated as part of a broader “Souper Bowl Sunday”. If you are interested in helping out at the event simply contact and you will be sent the volunteer sign-up sheet after the first of the year. Tasks involve serving soup, cutting bread, providing kitchen support, dishing up desserts, greeting neighbors, collecting donations, as well as assisting with set-up and clean-up. This event supports Nicollet Square, an affordable Kingfield housing option for youth who have been homeless or aged out of foster care, as well as KFNA’s affordable housing advocacy and educational work.

Kingfield Empty BowlsThe Community Sap Tap/Pancake Breakfast is a little harder to pin the date down on because it will happen when the sap starts flowing (some time near the end of March to the middle of April). This newer event is held in partnership with the Park Board, and is focused on teaching people how to collect and process maple sap, as well providing an incentive to gain this knowledge by serving it on the pancakes! Just email to be put in touch with the volunteer sap-tap and/or breakfast team.

Reminder: Today, join us for the Inaugural Kingfield Holidazzle!

December 10, 2022 By Sarah

Join us for the Inaugural Kingfield Holidazzle!

Saturday, December 10th   5:30 PM

Honoring Jim and Joanne from Royal Ground coffee shop

In the spirit of good fun and community building, let’s dress in lights and holiday cheer and have a mini Holidazzle parade (for those not familiar with the winter Minneapolis celebration, watch this video   https://tinyurl.com/bdfam8yp).

In addition to the fun, let’s take a moment to thank Jim + Joanne, the owners of the Royal Grounds coffee shop. After 12 years of incredible service to our community, Jim and Joanne are moving on to a new chapter.  While the shop will be left in good hands, let’s gather together and toast these stalwarts of our neighborhood.

Here’s the plan:

  1. Dress up your clothing, bike, stroller, etc. in LIGHTS, wear a COSTUME, and bring your smiles (see photo below).  Dress warmly as we will be outside.
  2. Bring your own cup of coffee, cocoa, or libation of your choice (the coffee shop will be closed).
  3. Meet at Royal Grounds at 5:30 p.m. to raise a glass + toast to Jim & Joanne
  4. Leave the coffee shop at 6 p.m. for a parade down Grand Avenue to 46th
  5. Hang with your neighbors afterward at Tap Society or Cafe Ena or go home

Kids, grown-ups, + pets are all welcome!
