4th Avenue Ramp to 35W Alternate Routes

January 29, 2020 By Sarah

MnDOT staff has heard some concerns about the traffic during rush hour since the Fourth Avenue ramp to I-35W south reopened to one lane last summer.

Crews still have some work to do in that area, so the second lane cannot be reopened at this time.  Because this ramp opened almost two years early, not all work on the interstate is complete. All access out of downtown is limited to one lane across the bridge that goes over I-94, which is why we need the ramp traffic to be merged down to a single lane as motorists get on southbound I-35W.

The city of Minneapolis and MnDOT suggest taking alternate routes to I-35W south. [Read more…]

2019 National Night Out is Tuesday, August 6th

July 25, 2019 By Cheryl

National Night Out is an annual nationwide event that encourages residents to get out in the community, holding block parties and getting to know their neighbors as a way to encourage crime prevention. It’s a great way to promote community-police partnerships and enjoy a Minnesota summer evening surrounded by friends and family.

The easiest way to get started on a great NNO event is to have a meeting with interested neighbors. If you are new to NNO or would like some new options this year, review the NNO Activity Ideas sheet.

It is free to participate in National Night Out.  Just click here to register your block: http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/blockeventapp/

Registration also places you on the official list of NNO events that gets distributed to police and other departments. We send dozens of teams of officers, supervisors, and command staff to attend as many events as possible. However, there’s no guarantee police will be able to visit your event.

Even better, KFNA uses the City’s list to create our bike map to deliver ice cream made, and donated by, our neighborhood confectionary, Sebastian Joe’s. We have been working on a top secret new flavor with Sebastian Joe’s for this year…so make sure you register to get the first taste on August 6!

Questions about NNO or registering your block? Send us an e-mail:
